SUMMARY:Introduction to Basic Metrology Using A Laser Interferometer (3-Day Paid Training Class)
DESCRIPTION:Join CCAT and Renishaw for this comprehensive 3-day in-person paid training.  This course involves open discussion on the use of the laser interferometer as a tool for evaluating the severity and cause of errors machines exhibit which work within three-dimensional rectangular coordinate systems. Emphasis is on development of basic metrology skills\, visualization\, and solutions for spatial geometric problems using laser interferometers on linear motion devices. This is an introductory course designed for individuals looking to develop and further the understanding of error events recorded with a laser interferometer. Although this course is introductory\, it meets the needs of many students with other interests as a refresher course for improving laser alignment skills\, a course for students interested in pursuing\, selling and supporting metrology measurement services or a course that simply satisfies a student’s curiosity in measurement using laser interferometers. This is an interactive lecture structured course whereby fresh topics are presented by the instructor\, theory and hardware are explained\, formulas are introduced\, scenarios are presented and basic metrology problems are worked out sequentially by the instructor and students.\n– Familiarize students with basics concepts of metrology\n– Familiarize students with errors found in rectangular coordinate systems\n– To provide students with opportunities to develop an understanding of measurement uncertainties using a laser interferometer\n– Familiarize the student with the basic measuring components of laser interferometer\n– Familiarize students with basic Laser software data capture and analysis functions\n– To provide students with basic skills to evaluate and quantify future metrology challenges\nDay 1\, Tue.
