Davies Career and Technical High School (all programs)
Brief DescriptionDavies career and technical education (CTE) provides our students with the academic, technical, and employability skills and knowledge to pursue careers and continue in postsecondary training. Davies offers 9 programs that provide students with opportunities to acquire the competencies required in today’s workplace—such as critical thinking, collaboration, professionalism, and communication. Our high-quality programs and pathways address the goals of college and career readiness and ensure that coursework is simultaneously aligned to rigorous academic standards and postsecondary expectations and informed by and built to address the skills required for high-wage high-skilled careers. Our students have the opportunity to participate in Work-based learning experiences with industry partners, bringing their classroom experiences to life in the real world.

National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS), National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCCER), International Society of Certified Electronics Technicians (ISCET), Electronics Technicians Association (ETA), A certificate or certification offered by a third party, NIMS: Measurement, Materials & Safety and one of the following: NIMS: Manual Milling Skills, NIMS: Turning Operations: Turning Between centers, NIMS: Turning Operations: Turning Turning Chucking Skills, NIMS: CNC Turning: Programming, Setup & Operations, NIMS: CNC Milling: Programming, Setup & Operations.
Many of our students leave with up to 5 NIMS certifications.

How are employability skill standards incorporated into the program?
Students in grades 10-12 are scored on bi-weekly using a 21st Century Work-readiness rubric that consists of four criteria: Professionalism; Collaboration; Critical Thinking; and Communications skills. Technical teachers also participate in professional development to ensure that we are preparing students for the current job market and meet the needs of our industry partners.

Yes - Our industry partners participate as members of our individual program advisory boards; class presentations; interviewing process and hiring; evaluators/judges for statewide in-house competitions; and curriculum alignment to the needs of our industry partners. Some of our partners include, but not limited to: Tracey Gear; Yushin; Bullard Abrasives; Hi-Tech Stamping; Piatek; AstroNova; Amgen; and Warwick Sewerage Authority.
