Does program curricula incorporate employability skill standards?
Yes
How are employability skill standards incorporated into the program?
The teachers discuss employer expectations to the students frequently throughout the year. Also, we invite people from Industry to come and visit with our students and they discuss the characteristics and qualities they look for in applicants.
Community Partners
Cly-Del Manufacturing, Eyelet Design, Eyelet Crafters, H&T Manufacturing, Platt Brothers, Carby Corporation, The Siemon Company, Ametek-Hayden Kerk, Selectcom, Click Bond and Waterbury Swiss. The facilities have opened their doors to our students for site visits, job shadows and pre-apprenticeship opportunities. We haven't had a pre-apprentice sign with all of these companies but all of them have offered our students site visits and job shadows.
Work-based learning opportunities/internships
Cooperative work education, Internships, Pre-apprenticeships, Simulated work environments
Pre-apprenticeships
The Pre-Apprentice program is done in partnership with a facility and the State DOL. The student is registered by the State and the facility pays the students minimum wage or higher depending on the facility. I believe the program is 8,000 hours.

Program data collection
Some of the data we collect on our students revolves around how many 9th graders choose the Manufacturing Strand yearly, how many students are taking NVCC courses, how many students are enrolling in 2 year and 4 year colleges, how many students are entering the workforce and how many non-traditional participants we are placing in the pre-apprenticeship program.
