Program Overview
College and Career Readiness Program
Brief DescriptionWe work closely with the guidance department to assure that each student receives individualized and connected counseling throughout their time at Old Saybrook High School. The purpose of the program is to prepare student for academic, trades, work, and military paths after high school. Specifically, we work to: Establish an environment where 100% of our students participate in CCR-related activities, are provided with resources, and have access to career and post-secondary guidance from our CCR Coordinators. Connect students to professionals within their career interest areas. Connect students to OSHS alumni that are engaged in post-secondary studies related to their educational interests. Connect students to trades opportunities such as the Next Gen Boat Program, Transfr VR skills training, Automotive Interest Cohort, trades fairs, and field trips to manufacturing businesses. Assist students in developing self-awareness. Encourage students to welcome new challenges. Provide students with opportunities to apply what they have learned in the classroom. Help students prepare themselves to succeed in post-secondary endeavors.
Program Focus
Our primary goal is that each and every student is supported throughout their journey at OSHS and leaves us confident about their future path.
